RISD•Caters is here to present the best in culinary artistry and provide full service catering to you and your guests. For RISD events or private parties, we strive to accommodate all requests. Here are our ordering guidelines that will help facilitate your next event.

Ordering Guidelines

To ensure that your catering order is received, please notify us at least five working days before your event; ten working days in advance if you are requesting service staff. An estimated guest count is required when booking your event. Events will be billed for guaranteed number or numbers of guests served, whichever is greater. You may make adjustments to this count up to five working days before the event. As events are booked on a time available basis, we recommend that you reserve as early as possible. Orders placed less than 48 hours notice are subjected to an additional of 15% surcharge, and may not be met as some items are unavailable at the last minute.

Delivery Information

For deliveries with in the Greater Providence Area there is a minimum purchase order of $50.00. Delivery is complimentary during regular business hours, Monday to Friday – 8am to 5pm. For delivery services outside regular business hours and weekends, the minimum order shall extend to $250.00, and a delivery fee may be incurred.

Delivery Location Access: We require a delivery time of approximately 30 minutes prior to your event; larger events will require additional set-up time.

Clients are directed to secure RISD•Caters property for later pick-up and will be responsible for any loss incurred.

Pricing

The prices in our menus are only effective for the 2011-2012 academic year. Please call to confirm pricing if your event falls after this period.

8% Rhode Island taxes will be charged to all groups that are paying by cash, check or credit card, (VISA/MasterCard). Should your group be considered tax exempt, please provide us a copy of your tax exemption certificate when ordering. A non refundable deposit of 25% of the estimated total is due at the time of booking. An additional 50% of the estimated total is required two weeks before the event. The final balance will be due on the day of the event. If any additional fees are incurred after final billing, this will be forwarded to you and will be due within ten days.

China Service

To better assist you with your event, China, Glassware and silverware are available upon request. Estimated charges are as follows:

  • Table Setting, (dinner plate, utensils and one glass):  $2.50 per person
  • Platters:  $1.00 each
  • Plates:  $0.25 each
  • Silverware:  $0.25 per piece
  • Glassware:  $0.25 per person
  • Cups and Saucers:  $0.50 per set

Linen Service

To further assist you with your event, standard linens are available.  Estimated charges are

as follows:

  • Table Linens $5.00 each
  • Linen napkins $0.50 each
  • Specialty Linens are available on request.  Please contact the office for pricing.                                                                        

Service Staff


To help run your event smoothly, catering staff will be provided from the start of the event until cleanup is completed. They are available with a three hour minimum at the following charges:

Chef/Event Manager:  $35 per hour 

  •  Bartender:  $25 per hour
  •  Culinary:  $20 per hour
  •  Wait Staff:  $20 per hour
  •  Caterer:  $17 per hour

Note:
For events with 50 guests or more, an Event manager is required for the duration of the event.

Service Fees and Taxes

 

All catered events where staff is involved, will be assessed with a 15% service fee based upon the food and beverage costs.  Events booked through RISD•Caters that are to be paid with cash, check or credit card, will be assessed an 8% state tax, unless a non-profit status is documented. There are no charges for events that do not require staffing.

Note:
The fee covers liability and worker’s compensation insurance for the staff at the event and is used to subsidize the upkeep of expenses involved in catering.  This fee is not a profit generated charge.

Event and Food Safety

Vegetarian, Vegan and other special dietary meals can be provided upon request.

For health and liability reasons, all leftover food is property of RISD•Caters.

Cancellations

In the even that a cancellation should occur, please notify the office no later than five working days before the event. Weekend events should be notified by 3pm Monday. Orders cancelled thereafter will be subjected to a 10% surcharge and possibly the original cost of the event ordered.

Should RISD be closed due to severe weather, your event will be automatically cancelled unless otherwise notified 24 hours before the event.  Under these circumstances, we will attempt to minimize the costs billed to the client by accommodating 40% of the total expenses.
